Nebraska's Brain Drain

• according to U.S. Census data, Nebraska is the 10th-most heavily outmigrated state for young, single, college-educated people
• according to UNL's Alumni Association:
  • approximately one third of UNL graduates are living outside the state
  • only 54.4 percent of UNL's College of Engineering & Technology graduates remain in the state
  • only 48 percent of UNL's College of Law graduates in the past decade remain in the state
• according to the Population Reference Bureau, approximately half of Nebraska's 93 counties have lost population since 1990
